Back in 2015, we had one goal in mind – to bridge the gap between awesome residential cleaning contractors searching for work opportunities and customers in need of help with one of the biggest (and dirtiest!) tasks on their to-do lists.

We realized that there was nothing quite like our vision in Toronto, as everything seemed to be strictly employee-based. That’s when we decided to take charge and build a business that would empower cleaning contractors with the freedom to create their own schedules for a better work-life balance.

1What is the job about?
Our residential cleaning contractors are skilled professionals who go through a thorough vetting process by us. You have the freedom to create your own schedule, and based on your availability, we will fill your calendar with a variety of cleaning jobs, ranging from standard home cleanings to deep cleanings and move-in/move-out cleanings. The contractors who work with us are experienced professionals with a minimum of 1 year in the industry, and they truly understand the ins and outs of residential cleaning. We provide a detailed checklist of areas that need to be covered for each type of cleaning to ensure consistency and customer satisfaction.
2What are the requirements for this position?
As an Independent Contractor, it’s important to remember that you’ll be responsible for filing your own taxes. We recommend that you have access to or own a vehicle that can allow you to move from one appointment to another. However, we do have plenty of contractors who take public transportation to their bookings. We also require our contractors to provide their own supplies and equipment. Many of our contractors say that investing in a good vacuum has paid off!
3What kind of compensation am I looking at?
We believe in fair compensation for our hardworking contractors. At Maid in T.O, we pay our contractors 60% of each booking’s subtotal. This allows our contractors to focus on providing our customers with a top-notch service that meets the specific needs of their home and the services they’ve chosen.
4Are there any insurance benefits?
No. As this is an Independent Contractor position, we do not offer any insurance benefits.
5What does the hiring process look like?
1- Click on the button to start your application. 2- Submit your application for our review. 3- After we review your application and deem you a good fit for our company, we will contact you to schedule an interview to ask you some questions and give you an opportunity to ask us, as well! 4- If both Maid in T.O and yourself decide to proceed, we will send you an Independent Contractor Agreement to review and sign electronically. 5- A background check will be completed from our end as we ensure all of our contractors go through the right process for safety measures. 6- Once your background check comes clear, we will send you a welcome email. After that, we will onboard you onto our system and walk you through our processes and procedures.
6Do I need access to a car?
We request that you let us know if you have access to a car as that widens your scope of cleaning jobs. However, it is not necessary to have one as long as we are aware, so we can assign you jobs based on your area.
7Do I need to bring my own supplies?
As an Independent Contractor, you are requested to bring your own supplies to your cleanings and replenish them as need be. We will provide you with a list of recommended items that we feel work best for the different types of cleanings that are offered through our services, which you will be responsible for delivering.
8Do I need to have access to technology in order to work with Maid in T.O?
Yes. You will be downloading our booking software to manage your bookings and see the details of your cleanings along with scheduling your availability. This can be done via phone or via a computer.

1- Professional Cleaning Experience: Candidates must have prior experience in residential cleaning, having worked either for their own clients or within a cleaning company.

2- Expertise in Cleaning: A working knowledge of cleaning products, equipment, and techniques, including their application on various surfaces within a home.

3- Exceptional Customer Service: Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate clearly, and an aptitude for adapting communication styles to cater to different personality types. The ability to transform potentially negative situations into positive or satisfactory outcomes.

4- Effective Communication: Excellent communication skills, including the ability to engage in conversations, actively listen, and understand customer or manager requirements.

5- Positive Attitude: Display enthusiasm, friendliness, and respect in all interactions.

6- Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.

9- Additional Requirements: Candidates must consent to and pass a background check, be legally eligible to work in Canada, and ideally have access to a car and a valid driver’s license (though this is not mandatory). Commitment to schedules, fluency in basic English, access to a phone with internet, and the capability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team are also essential.
