We all feel the urge to deep clean our homes once spring rolls around as part of the “winter cleaning Tips” ritual – but what about in the winter when we are indoors most of the time anyway? This is the time of year when many people spend most of their time indoors. It’s colder and you’re enjoying indoor gatherings with your friends and family, which means the home is more prone to getting messy.

Winter can be a pretty season with the fresh snow falling but also an inevitably messy one in the home. From cold/flu season to dust piling up because of the warm/dry air, to having wet winter boots walking into the home, it’s important to keep up a routine for your house cleaning during winter.

Furnace Filters –  Change the filters a bit more regularly in the winter. With the heat running constantly and no open windows, dust can collect quickly and affect the air quality in your home.

Clean your computers by wiping down the exterior surfaces with rubbing alcohol and spraying a can of compressed air in between the keyboard. Bacteria can accumulate quickly on keyboard and mouse surfaces so cleaning your laptop or computer should be part of your routine. Don’t forget to turn it off before doing so!

Put waterproof floor mats near every door leading outside to catch melting snow and salt. This will keep your house clean during winter and without any traces of melted snow!

Wipe down ceiling corners, tops of windows, tops of books, and furniture tops.  Even your lighting fixtures need good dusting! Dust collected on them can make your indoor lighting look dim, so it will make a big difference once cleaned.
